Surgery?, What Surgery?

You would never know Jonah had surgery yesterday. He is completely himself with TONS of energy! So much so, that I decided to take him to a playgroup outing at the Wiggly Play Center. He loved it, and so did I since he could walk all over the place without me worrying about falls on a hard surface. He still thinks he can run, so there are plenty of tumbles!

Surgery Day

Today was Jonah's ear tube surgery day. We had to be at the hospital at 6:30 this morning for a 7:30 surgery start time. He was a very hungry boy since he did not get to eat since 8 last night. When they took him back to the operating room, I cried a bit, but the doctor was back in less than 15 minutes! She took me to the recovery room to see him. He was glad to see me, but very upset from the anesthesia. After being fussy for about 30 minutes, he calmed down and just wanted to play. Pete & I came home and played with him for an hour before he was ready for a nap. All in all, it was a successful morning with minimal trauma for baby and parents. :) Thank you for all of your thoughts and prayers!

Playtime at Stonebriar

Jonah had such fun on Tuesday playing with his girlfriends Izabella & Chandler at the Stonebriar play area. I used to think it was not great for younger kids, but he really enjoyed crawling through the tunnels. I am happy to have a closer alternative to Willowbend to take him to play! (Although that will always be my favorite)

Aunt Mel (& Jenn) Monday

Jonah & I had a great start to our week as always with my sister Melissa. She also brought her BFF Jennifer (on a break from law school) to join in on our fun.

Play at Gigis

Sunday was a fun afternoon playing at my grandmother's (Gigi) with Jonah's cousins, Kalli & Mikey. He was a little clingy with Mommy and unsure of Melissa's friend Jennifer for some reason. That's the pensive look while taking a picture.

Happy Birthday, Landon!

Jonah had a great time at Landon Stark's 2nd B-day party this weekend! It was at the Little Gym, and he had so much fun playing on the mats with the balls. He also enjoyed the bounce mat and pretending to do pull-ups on the bars. Next Olympian? :)

Keough Baby Shower Fiesta

Yesterday was probably the most fun baby shower I have ever attended/ hosted. It was filled with great friends, wonderful food, fun times, and of course, with JOY as we celebrated the upcoming arrival of miss Charleigh Ray Keough. We are SO HAPPY for our dear friends and were thrilled to get to be one of the hosts for their Baby Shower Fiesta!

ENT Update

We went to an ENT yesterday to have Jonah's ears checked and to talk about getting tubes. 5 ear infections since January and 4 since May = a lot of antibiotics! The doctor confirmed that he definitely needed tubes as he has fluid built up in his right ear again. This means another ear infection is likely this week since the shape of his tube in his ear does not allow it to drain properly. We scheduled his tube surgery for August 28. I am looking forward to being ear infection free soon!

Jonah Walks!

Pete & I had a blast yesterday with Jonah as he practiced walking around the living room. We used ourselves & his snacks as motivation. Here are the best clips for you to enjoy! (turn up the volume) :)

Playtime at the Mall

On Wednesday, we met my friend Kim & her son Weston for a birthday lunch for Kim (Happy 30th!). Afterward, Jonah & I went to Willowbend so I could get his birthday safari outfit from Janie & Jack (so cute!). I thought I would try their play area again. The last few times, Jonah has not been interested in leaving my side, but this time, he was all over the place! If a "big" kid got in his way, he would just push & nudge them to move. It was too funny! Unfortunately, I got food poisoning from lunch, so I have been out of commission for a few days. Thankfully, Jonah was content playing in the fort we made with the couches in the living room so I could rest.

10 Months Old

Jonah turned 10 months old today! We have had another wonderful month with lots of playdates and visits with family & friends from out of town. Jonah has started to take his first steps this month - about 3-4 at a time! They are usually toward me, but sometimes toward his toys. He is starting to enjoy more "non-baby" foods and likes to feed himself. He is also saying "hi" and "light" as he points to the ceiling fan or light fixture. He absolutes LOVES walker toys, especially the lion that Grandma Jackie got for him. In fact, we have to hide it sometimes because he just wants to walk all around the house over and over. That means Mommy or Daddy has to walk behind him for safety, and that can get tiring! He has also started clapping this month, which is so cute. He unfortunately ended this month with another ear infection (#5 since January and #4 since May), so we will be visiting with an ENT next week to talk about getting tubes for his ears. Pete & I are hoping that they will help keep him well!

Visit with Macalusos

This week, Pete's brothers were in town from New York & Paris. We had a great time visiting with them and seeing them interact with Jonah. He immediately took to them and had an awesome time getting to know his Macaluso uncles!
